Communications Director
Women’s Voices Women Vote seeks a Communications Director for the organization to serve as the communications staff responsible for executing, designing, and shaping a comprehensive, multi-tiered, multi-year communications plan.
Specific Duties
The Communications Director is responsible for:
- Developing and implementing an integrated communications outreach plan to journalists, advocacy and political organizations, opinion leaders and public officials using both traditional and modern communications tools;
- Developing and implementing ideas for enhanced media coverage on the national, state and local levels;
- Pitching and preparing principals and surrogates to speak on behalf of the organization;
- Serving as a spokesperson for the organization, in addition to the President
- Educating media on WVWV programs and activities;
- Writing press releases and media statements; supervising speech writing; arranging and participating in media training; supervising the design of all electronic media and communications components
- Planning news conferences and media events;
- Working with the Web, Internet and New Media team to develop and implement new media strategies
The ideal candidate must have a broad base of communications skills in strategic planning, message development, media relations, events, and new media tactics. Past history working for candidates, advocacy or political organizations or on Capitol Hill preferred. WVWV offers a competitive salary and a generous benefits package.
